Personal baseline
You are the reference.
TIDES reads your data relative to your own baseline, once it has gathered enough evidence to know what yours actually is. Not a population average, you.
Energy (up) and pleasantness (right), placed in a single move. Drag the dot, it reads back live.
Context
Numbers don't happen alone.
A reading only means something next to the others around it. TIDES reasons across the pillars, following the thread between them, never in isolation.
Context is data too
The same signal can mean something different in a different moment.
Time of day, recent movement, a hard workout, last night's sleep, today's stress. The number can be identical; the meaning depends on the moment around it.
A peak around 2:40pm, settled by evening. Read from heart rate and HRV.
Where it came from
Knowing where information came from matters.
What TIDES observed, what you reported, and what you intended are three different kinds of truth. TIDES keeps them separate, and always tells you which is which.
Observed
What TIDES actually detected.
Reported
What you told TIDES.
Intended
What you plan to do.
Rules I follow
Patterns become rules, carefully.
When something about you holds up, TIDES promotes it from a passing observation to a rule it follows. It only does that on a two-part test, and a rule that stops holding is dropped quietly.
Confirmed recurrence
The pattern shows up again, not just the once.
Observed or reported
Something TIDES saw, or you told it. Never merely inferred.
Fail either gate and it stays an observation. Nothing gets carved into a rule on a hunch.
Confidence
Evidence before certainty.
TIDES shows how sure it is, and gets quieter as the evidence thins. And nothing happened is never confused with TIDES couldn't see it, missing access does not become a false zero.
Sometimes the correct answer
is "I don't know yet."
TIDES would rather show you an honest blank than a confident guess. It is the difference between a tool you can trust and one you can't.
Calibration
The gap between sensed and felt is the moat.
TIDES pairs a sensor reading with one question: does this match how you feel? When your felt answer and the sensor keep disagreeing the same way, it learns to weight your read of your own body. This is the flywheel, and it never moves your Tide Score.
Sensed
HRV 41 ms. Recovery reads low.
Felt
You said: sharp and well rested.
When that gap recurs, TIDES leans toward you. The Tide Score stays untouched.
The moat
Most apps stop at a score. TIDES compounds.
The intelligence gets harder to copy the longer you use it. Four reasons it pulls ahead, and stays ahead.
Cross-pillar reasoning
Because all five pillars share one score, weighted not averaged, TIDES sees how your fuel moves your recovery, or your sleep your skin.
- Connections a single-pillar app structurally cannot compute
- The thread between pillars, followed, never in isolation
- One system, so the whole day informs each reading
Cross-pillar
One score, so the links between pillars are computable.

It learns in stages
Intelligence forms in the open: Collecting, Observing, Developing, Reliable, and TIDES tells you which stage it is at.
- Nothing claimed until it clears a real bar (p < 0.01)
- It checks whether its own advice actually helped, and drops what did not
- Enough of your own days before it speaks
How sure, shown
Nothing is claimed until it clears the bar.

A model of you
Every confirmed link joins a personal context graph: a cause map at the right lag, and your real rhythm.
- Short nights showed up in your skin about a day later
- Your real windows: when you wind down, when you fuel, when you move
- Built from your history, not a population average
Cause map, at the right lag
A hypothesis from your own history, never a verdict.

Personal Laws
When a link holds across enough of your own separate days, it becomes a scoped rule Signal plans and explains with.
- Two gates guard it: Confirmed, and Observed or Reported, never Inferred
- A guess is never allowed to become a law
- Visible in Signal’s memory, and you can switch one off
Personal law
Caffeine after 2pm shows up in your sleep.
Signal plans and explains with it. You can switch it off.

Careful about what it knows.
This is the discipline underneath every reading. Signal reasons this way across all of TIDES.
